Shelly Warwick in Ōtaki Ward contest

Shelly Warwick is a candidate for the Ōtaki Ward councillor position at Kāpiti Council.

“I am Ōtaki born and bred, a mother of 4, and a registered nurse. I believe Ōtaki is a special place and the people who live here make it a special community.
I have been involved in many committees and Road safety campaigns in Ōtaki, achieving great results, including improved road safety outcomes for our children, safe East/West connections across SH1 and rural road safety improvements.
Currently a member of the Ōtaki Community board, I feel Ōtaki needs a strong, loyal voice around the council table. We also need positive and pro-active communication with other our own council, other neighbouring councils and DHB’s to ensure our community and its needs are not overlooked.
We have challenging cross boundary issues in the Ōtaki Ward that need to be addressed.
The building of the PP2O has bought opportunities and challenges to Ōtaki. I have advocated through this construction process for Road safety considerations and connections such as the Shared path, and I will continue to do so having already engaged with our Northern neighbouring council to talk connections for the next stage of the expressway.
I am currently on the Ōtaki Community board, KCDC’s Operations and Finance committee, Cycleway, Walkway and Bridleway committee, and Road Safety committee. I am Chair of Kāpiti Equestrian Advocacy group and on the Ōtaki College Board of Trustees. I am also standing for MidCentral DHB.
I believe I am the best person to represent the Ōtaki Ward around KCDC’s table.”
