ANZAC emotion a slap

On ANZAC day I listen to our Mayor’s speech, he spoke of his home and his grandfather, paused to compose himself as he spoke, with a long dramatic silence while he fought to control his emotions while talking about his grandfather who he never got to meet.
It came across heart felt, until I heard it again with the same dramatic pause while he again fought to control his emotions, only this time because I had already heard it once I was able to see through the charade. For those of us who do find ANZAC day emotional as we think of friends we lost in combat it was a slap in the face. ANZAC day is not a day to play the politician.
