Kāpiti Feedback wanted on Community Facilities

Feedback is being sought on a draft Community Facilities Strategy that was developed with community input.
The Kāpiti Coast District Council has developed the draft strategy to plan for the current and future needs of the community.
Parks and Recreation Manager Alison Law says that to help shape the draft strategy, the Council held workshops and undertook online surveys with over 100 user groups and sought input from the wider community.
“This has helped us to identify how well the current network of community facilities in Kāpiti meets the district’s current needs and potential future needs,” she says.
“The strategy, undertaken as part of our FutureKāpiti Long term plan 2015-35, will guide the Council’s decisions on investing in community facilities over the next 20 years, to ensure we have spaces and places for residents and visitors to enjoy leisure time activities.
“From community halls and meeting rooms, playgrounds to clubrooms, libraries and public toilets, the broad scope of the strategy will mean that there’s something of interest to all Kāpiti residents. We encourage everyone to take a look at the draft strategy, and let us know what they think.”

The draft Community Facilities Strategy and summary consultation document are available online at www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/community-facilities-strategy.

Printed copies can be viewed at libraries and Council service centres. Feedback on the draft strategy is open until 5pm, Wednesday 3 May 2017.
