Kāpiti Community Foodbank fills necessary role

The Annual General Meeting of the Kāpiti Community Foodbank was held on 23 August, 2013 and attended by twenty supporters.
The Chairperson had resigned earlier in the year due to ill health and Pam Thornbury was elected as the new Chairperson with Cherie Wood as Treasurer and Mary Pincott as Secretary. Two members resigned from the Management Committee and one new person was elected.
The Committee reported on the activities during the year and once again expressed huge gratitude to the local businesses and the whole community for their ongoing support of the Foodbank. With the continuing difficult economic situation prevailing more people are finding themselves in need and there is no doubt the Foodbank fulfils a very necessary role.
At present funds are very low due to community grants diminishing and higher costs of food and so the Committee is looking forward to the Lions Food Drive to be held on Saturday, 30 November 2013 to replenish the food stocks and to enable Christmas parcels to be distributed to those in most need. We hope everyone will look for and fill the Yellow Bags which are delivered the week before the food drive. Thank you in advance for your support.
