Bad decision forced on Mayor

Editor

The Sandhills Expressway has been forced on our district by central government, and this was not the choice of Mayor Jenny Rowan. One of her qualities that I have observed is pragmatism in the face of reality. She has been an environment court commissioner and knows full well that the result of challenging the deep pockets of central government on this issue would leave Kāpiti Coast District as the looser and we would be right back to where we started. Rather than bankrupt the district by continual appeals she has said she will work to make the best of this forced decision by working with the designers and engineers insisting the environmental damage is minimal and the access and exits for our communities are maximized. Jenny Rowan will need our support to make the best of a bad decision.
