Steve Eckett Board notable for its unity

Campaign Statement

I am the newest member of the current Paekākāariki Community Board and I am keen to continue and to represent the community for a full term.
My highlights of the two years include appearing before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Body Reform, working for the future of QE Park, and particularly seeing the development of Campbell Park skateboard facility.
My background is in telecommunications engineering and business studies, so I have a sound knowledge of the technical and financial aspects of running a large organisation.
The current Board is notable for its unity, and I will be backing all of my colleagues for re-election as my fellow members, or, in Janet Holborow’s case, to become the ward representative for Paekākāariki/Raumati on the new council.
We aim to continue the kind of work we’ve undertaken in the past three years for our village and the district, and to continue supporting the huge range of community activities which involve so many of you.
Paekākāariki has unique strengths in community, heritage, arts, and natural beauty, and our intention is to foster these in all ways. We have also been instrumental in creating the nine-point policy pledge for District Council candidates that will let voters know better the people they are electing, so we have an effective Council next term.
