Kāpiti performing arts centre gets award winner’s support

An award winning producer and Kāpiti resident is supporting the proposed Kāpiti performing arts centre. Jaime Selkirk co-produced the Lord of the Rings trilogy with Sir Peter Jackson, winning an academy award for film editing.
After recently visiting Kāpiti College Mr Selkirk says the Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre will be a great asset for Kāpiti.
Mr Selkirk says in order for our next generation of creative talent to thrive, we need to ensure they have the support and guidance to achieve their potential.
Kāpiti College alumni and entrepreneur Katherine Corich says local businesses and entrepreneurs need to understand the potential of what the proposed Centre will do to help Kāpiti stand out from other regions.
She says the value of training in the performing arts cannot be underestimated.
The $10 million Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre is a partnership with Kāpiti College and the Community.
Approximately $8 million has been raised for the project through partnerships with the Kāpiti District Council and Lotteries.

The school is currently seeking support for the last $2 million.
