Kāpiti Coast and Horowhenua food and beverage businesses were showcased in the Banquet Hall at Parliament last week as part of a TASTE’26 event.

The event was organised by local MP Tim Costley, and brought together around 38 participating businesses to network with politicians, business leaders, and representatives from Foodstuffs NZ.

Showcased Producers: Several local businesses were highlighted, including: Ohau Gourmet Mushrooms, Kāpiti Olives, Prana Greens, Kāpiti Artisan Bakehouse, Scotty’s Provisions, Elemental Cider, Preservation Jam, along with young entrepreneurs from the Ōtaki Kids Market.

The Prime Minister attended the event, interacting with local producers and young entrepreneurs.

This event is part of a broader push to promote local producers, often in conjunction with the annual Kāpiti Food Fair (next scheduled for Dec 5, 2026).

The Kāpiti Coast Economic Development Strategy identifies food and beverage as a sector with significant opportunities for economic growth and future resilience.

They say events like TASTE raise the profile of our local producers and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their offerings and connect with new audiences such as ministers, regional business leaders, and distribution companies.
