Paraparaumu-based distillery and tasting room The Bond Store will join forces with Mostly Music – Kāpiti’s guide to local music – to host a Muso Meetup, Saturday 25th May from 3pm.  The event will offer local musicians the chance to connect with fellow music-makers.

The Bond Store owner, Chris Barber, says this is an opportunity to think outside the box as they focus on how to make the most of their new premises. The Bond Store recently opened the doors of its new Tasting Room on Birmingham St, Paraparaumu to the public. The Bond Store – which is open 6 days a week serving a range of drinks and food – is hoping to attract all kinds of visitors to share in the space.

“It’s New Zealand Music Month and being proud local music lovers, we are all in. But rather than have a night or two of live music, we have gone the other way. Musicians are in business too, but unlike other sectors, they don’t often get together to network.” says Mr Barber.

Jess Deacon, who runs Mostly Music, says she’s looking forward to meeting some of the local musicians that she’s not yet crossed paths with.

“Most of us musicians have day jobs too, or we end up gigging at the same time, so I find sometimes that I know of people, but I haven’t actually ever met them. Having the opportunity to get us musos together in the same room and give each other a high-five is something I’ve been wanting to do since Mostly Music launched in 2022.”

Mostly Music is a dedicated platform to spread the word about live music events, and share the aroha so that musicians and music-lovers both benefit. The website displays information about upcoming local events, and sends out a weekly gig guide to their followers as well as sharing  information across social media.

“The purpose of the Muso Meetup event is to allow active, working, semi-professional and professional musicians to get together and network. This includes regularly performing musicians, professional musicians, music teachers and industry professionals.” says Ms Deacon
