Kāpiti business owner Cindy Foote has recently installed a potential life saving AED on the outside of the Jade Property Management office on the highway just south of Ihakara St, Paraparaumu.

“Donating this Community Defibrillator was another way we can assist Wellington Free Ambulance who offer such a great service here in Kāpiti and throughout the region,” says Cindy, who has been a regular donor to Wellington Free Ambulance.

The AED is available for public use and several Jade staff and colleagues from the local Gold Coast BNI chapter were on hand for the launch and CPR training and ‘how to use’ instructions for the AED from Rachel and Dominic of Wellington Free.

Wellington Free Ambulance General Manager of Fundraising and Communications Claire Carruthers has welcomed the latest addition to the AEDs on the Kāpiti Coast.

“We are enormously grateful to Julie Nevett and The Lloyd Morrison Foundation for the incredible support provided as our Cornerstone Partner that enables us to train thousands of people aged 5-95 every year in life saving CPR skills.  Knowing CPR is a vital skill for everyone to have as you never know when it might be needed to help save a life.”

Ms Carruthers says as well as funding The Lloyd Morrison Foundation Heartbeat Programme they also support the ongoing costs for hundreds of publicly available AED’s across the region.

“AED’s are another crucial tool to give someone having a sudden cardiac arrest the best chance of survival.”

Cindy Foote says Wellington Free do a brilliant job and everyone has been touched in some way by the work they do.

“The fact is the work they do saves lives and we are really pleased to be able to assist in the work they do.”
