Kāpiti Coast District Council has appointed Gary Simpson as Interim Chief Executive from 1 July 2022. Mr Simpson will hold the position until a new Chief Executive is appointed and starts in the role.
Mayor K Gurunathan says Gary is a good fit for Council and we are delighted that he has agreed to step in and lead the organisation while we continue to work through the process of appointing a new Chief Executive.
“Gary is very well known to our Council having previously held the positions of Group Manager, Deputy Chief Executive and Acting Chief Executive and served as an independent member of our Audit and Risk Subcommittee.
“Recruiting a Chief Executive is one of the most important decisions a Council has to make and having someone of Gary’s calibre acting in this position gives us the time and space we need to work through our recruitment and selection process,” Mayor Gurunathan said.
