Clean sweep for Kapiti Petanque champions

The Kāpiti Petanque Club has produced a series of outstanding performances during the recent Champion of Champions Regional Petanque tournaments.

Each club in the Wellington Region holds competitions amongst their registered players to find their club’s Singles, Doubles and Triples Champions.  These Club Champions go on to play the winners of the various clubs.  Steve Frampton, Kevin McFadgen and Alan Taylor represented Kāpiti Club and took out all three categories.

The highly rated triples team won five of six games at Horowhenua to claim the trophy and complete the set for the Kāpiti Petanque Club.

Alan Taylor and Kevin McFadgen had earlier hit top form to take the Doubles title while Steve Frampton ensured the clean sweep of Champion of Champions for Kāpiti by winning the Singles title.

Lynne Shepherd, Kāpiti’s president, gave out the trophies. The winners are:

Club Singles Winner: Annick Le Guen

Club Triples Winners: Steve Frampton, Alan Taylor and Kevin McFadgen

Champion of Champions Singles: Steve Frampton

Club Champion: 3 way tie – Steve Frampton, Kevin McFadgen, and Annick Le Guen
