Kāpiti Aged Care facilities ordered closed

Kāpiti Seniors: Dr Ashley Bloomfield announces lockdown of Aged Care facilities.

As New Zealand moves back into Covid-19 restrictions special attention is being paid to Retirement and Age Care facilities.
Neville Parkinson, acting Manager at Charles Fleming Retirement Village in Waikanae, says they are closed to visitors as at 12noon today.
“We have taken all precautions to ensure the safety of our residents,” says Mr Parkinson.
He says the Age Care facility, which accommodates 120 people, is closed to visitors and will likely remain so through to the weekend and possibly beyond.
“We are taking all necessary precautions just as we did during the initial outbreak. We are trying to maintain a safe haven for our residents,” says Mr Parkinson.
Dr Ashley Bloomfield said today his ministry and government agencies are working closely with aged care facilities and the closures at this stage is the safest approach.
Kāpiti is currently at Level 2 and will remain so until the government announces a higher or lower level following the community transmission in Rotorua and Auckland.
