Kāpiti updates Rubbish and Recycling

The Otaihanga and Ōtaki transfer stations are back to normal operating hours.

Collection companies will start to pick up recycling bins and crates alongside the normal rubbish collection in Alert Level 3. However, the region’s recycling sorting plant remains closed, so all recycling collected will be going straight to landfill. If it is safe and hygienic to do so we encourage people to continue to clean and stockpile recycling on their property until the sorting plant reopens.
The Ōtaki and Otaihanga Transfer Stations have reopened for rubbish drop off. Safe operating procedures will be in place making your drop off slower than normal. If your rubbish is not too smelly we ask that you hold on to it for a few more days to let the rush die down.
Kerbside greenwaste collection will resume at Alert Level 3. The Composting NZ green waste facility at the Otaihanga and Ōtaki transfer station take greenwaste. The Waikanae Green Waste and Recycling Centre will remain closed. If you have questions about your kerbside collections please contact your provider.

The Otaihanga and Ōtaki transfer stations are back to normal operating hours, with contact tracing processes in place. Eftpos and account customers only (no cash).
