Former Mayor Iride McCloy stands in Waikanae Ward

Iride McCloy is standing for the Waikanae Ward Council seat.

“I have lived most of my life on the Kāpiti Coast and 30 years in Waikanae. As a Board Director, former member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, Chairperson of a prominent Kāpiti Body Corporate, Justice of the Peace and a Kāpiti Consumer representative on the ICC Acute & Community Care Steering Group with the CCDHB in conjunction with our own Kāpiti Health Advisory Group, I have a strong background in governance, community activity and business.
Central and Local Government are setting out new formulas for the Local Authorities and Waikanae appears to have become just a blip on our Council’s radar! We pay high Rates, but get little for them. I believe that we have not had good elected advocacy. I will ensure our voices are heard. A priority if elected will be focusing on core Council responsibilities and fiscal prudence to keep Rates increases down.”
