Kāpiti to Shake Rattle and Roll

Operatunity’s Resident Artists Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua and Karl Perigo perform the greatest hits of the 50’s and 60’s in Operatunity’s upcoming Shake, Rattle & Roll concert in Kāpiti.

“Ebony and Ivory? Salt and Pepper? The Black ‘n’ White Minstrels? Brother from another mother?”
It doesn’t matter what you call them, the chemistry between Operatunity’s Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua and Karl Perigo is undeniable. They appear on stage together again for Operatunity’s latest offering Shake, Rattle and Roll touring New Zealand in June and July.
Both men were both raised around music. For Bonnie, it was the Beatles that inspired him. “Watching the Beatles perform, and seeing all the screaming fans they had… music was always in the family, I just didn’t think that I’d make a living singing.”
Karl’s inspiration to sing came from home. His grand-parents exposed him to rock ‘n’ roll music, but his need to perform came from the greats like Howard Morrison, Dame Edna and Michael Barrymore, all of whom he has met or worked with.
Bonnie has worked full-time with the Operatunity Daytime Concerts for over ten years, and Karl for more than three. In that time the pair have become well known to audiences as Operatunity’s Dynamic Duo. Karl is unpredictable which often leads to some crazy and impromptu skits, but the two can bounce off each other with ease.
Bonnie says working with Karl means no two days are the same; “Performing with Karl you never know what’s going to happen next. Every day is different and exciting.”
Karl loves working with Bonnie; “Vocally he can style and shape his voice to suit any genre of music. He is a musician, he can add delicious harmonies to anything! He has great ideas and if it wasn’t for Jess, I would marry him myself!”

The two will be performing with legends Suzanne Lynch and Pat Urlich, in Operatunity’s next Daytime Concert Shake, Rattle & Roll. They promise the show will be a ‘slick production, full of costumes, wigs, shoes, hilarity, talented cast and memories’.
Songs include Tutti Frutti, Great Balls of Fire, Only You, Chantilly Lace, Love Me Tender and tributes to The Supremes, Elvis, Fats Domino and more!
