Steven Cole (Owner) and Craig Taylor (Butchery Manager) at New World Ōtaki, fended off dozens of challengers last week to take home the coveted Best Pork Sausage in the annual New World North Island Sausage competition.
“To be frank, I’m pretty stoked that little New World Ōtaki scooped the pool with our pure pork sausage,” says Steven. “Craig’s recipe is clearly a real winner – both he and I take pride in making delicious sausages in store which our customers absolutely love. The award-winning Pure Pork sausage is available now along with our Gourmet Beef and our Gourmet Lamb all made the traditional and natural way with top quality meat.”
Steven started his career in a butcher’s shop in Temuka and is the proud owner-operator of New World Ōtaki. “Foodstuffs offers so many opportunities you just never know where you will end up and what doors will open. You simply have to be ready and willing to take every chance you get. Even things like the New World North Island sausage comp open another door for Craig who has already chalked up other national awards for his recipes.
