Ōtaki’s $5.4m Pool opens with a splash

Over 100 locals turned out in perfect summer weather tonight for the official opening of the new water-play splash pad at the Ōtaki Pool.
Kāpiti Mayor Gurunathan cut the ribbon along with Napier McFedrie, who was instrumental in getting the original Ōtaki pool up and running.
Ōtaki Community Board Chair Chris Papps says the new splash pad is fabulous and once the ribbon was cut the fun started. She says there were plenty of local kids ready to enjoy the new amenity.
Ms Papps says the $5.4million redevelopment of the Ōtaki Pool in Harurtai Park is a now a facility to rival the Aquatic Centre.
She says the community is grateful to former Ōtaki councillors such as Penny Gaylor who fought at the time to promote the pool. Also attending were current Ōtaki Cr James Cootes, Cr Janet Holborow and Cr Angela Buswell.
Ms Papps says the pool is officially open to the public from 10am today (Friday) and Saturday is an open day and entry is free all day.
