Kāpiti Festival Attracts Thousands

The recent Kāpiti Festival has been judged a huge success by the public, organisers and participants.

Based on promotion and volunteer work by local BNI chapters, this year’s Festival incorporated the Mary Potter Hospice Strawberry Festival.
Craig Bardell, chair of the organising committee, says the Festival exceeded expectations and it is now an important part of the Kāpiti events calendar.
Mr Bardell says the visitors would have been around 7000 and next year is likely to be an even bigger event.
The Kāpiti Festival raised just on $50,000 and Festival organisers says they are extremely happy with this result as all the net proceeds go back to Mary Potter Hospice and keeping their service free to the people of Kāpiti.
Phillip Harris from Mary Potter Hospice says on the day over 30 volunteers assisted with running the event which is absolutely awesome as events like the Kāpiti Coast Festival can only be successful with the backing and support of community volunteers.
