Helmets save lives

Editor,

I suffered a pushbike accident by Kāpiti Rd, Paraparaumu last Saturday , July 15, which dislocated my left elbow, broke a bone and tore ligaments and I suffered multiple lacerations to my leg. I was wearing a cycle helmet.
Both Wellington Free Ambulance and others at the scene were marvellous.
I would just like to thank most sincerely the ambulance crew for their kind treatment and assistance as well as people at the scene, specifically one guy that looked after my bike and gear who I never got the name of…big thanks, people like that are what makes a good community tick.
I would also like to dispel the myth that helmets don’t save lives. They do.
