Kāpiti Petanque Club celebrate St Patricks day

Green shooters, Irish Tea cake and a selection of Irish music, courtesy of Colleen Hooper, set the scene for a fun filled, three game melee in celebration of St Patrick’s day at the kapiti Petanque Club.

A three game melee, rather than the normal five game melee, enables new and older members to experience competitive play without being too tiring. The tournament was well organised by Tony Gatford, who also won the “best dressed” prize for the second year in a row. (A sight to behold and and a clear winner.) Please note, the show of legs is a familiar sight, as the hardy soul wears shorts throughout the four seasons.

Melee placings were decided on the basis of points accumulated individually over the course of three games, with randomly drawn partners. The eventual winners were:

1st equal Dave Kitchener and Carol Knapp (a new member)
3rd Colleen Hooper
4th equal Lindsay McCallum , Paul Wedge, Barbara Ashton (a new member)

A splendid afternoon tea, with refreshments, completed a day of great fun in good company.
