There are many dog friendly areas in our parks that you can bring your best friend. Check them out during our Paws in the Park summer series. With agility courses, doggy treats and fun canine games, your dog will have a grrrrrrreat time.

Walkies! Bring your dog for a walk along the beautiful Coastal and Inland track then back to the picnic spot for games with your dog.
Getting there: Take SH1 to Paekākāariki, take a right into Wellington Rd and follow to the end.

Paws in the Parks is proud to support Helping You Help Animals (HUHA). HUHA is a charitable trust dedicated to teaching empathy to the community and providing shelter for those less fortunate animals that struggle to survive in today’s disposable culture. HUHA is fun and interactive in many ways, designed to encourage our community to be proactive and take responsibility for the welfare of animals and the protection of our unique environment. HUHA’s two sanctuaries are located in Kāpiti and Upper Hutt so it’s great to be supporting a local charity. HUHA volunteers and dogs will be in attendance at all the walks. Dogs in the parks – the General Rules
Dog walking is encouraged in most of the regional parks. Any person who brings a dog into a regional park must make sure:
That your dog is kept under control at all time. You must carry a leash with you and use it as required and in some areas dogs must be on a leash at all times.
That your dog does not injure, endanger, intimidate or cause distress to any person, stock, poultry, domestic animal or protected wildlife.
That you remove and properly dispose of all dog droppings deposited by your dog.
