Kris Faafoi heads off spirited challenge to win Mana seat

Kris Faafoi is the new MP for Mana after the Labour candidate headed off a spirited challenge from popular National List MP Hekia Parata.

In what was considered a safe seat for Labour, Mr Faafoi’s winning margin was 1080 from a total vote count of 22,387. There are still 1,352 Special votes to be counted but these are unlikely to reverse the election night result.

Ms Parata will remain in Parliament as a National List MP.

With all 44 polling stations reporting the final counts are:
BUCHANAN, Kelly ALL……………. 37
CRAWFORD, Julian Lloyd ALCP…….. 107
DU PLESSIS, Colin ACT………….. 132
