KiwiRail will continue with its upgrade of the Wellington rail network this coming weekend, with the focus once again on the power system which drives Wellington’s electric trains.
Work will be carried out on all lines, installing new overhead wires and poles. At the same time KiwiRail will undertake track work and improvements to tunnels between Pukerua Bay and Paekākāariki.
Buses will replace trains between Wellington and Johnsonville and Wellington and Paraparaumu from 4am Saturday 4 September midnight Sunday 5 September. Buses will also replace trains between Wellington and Upper Hutt from 6am 6pm Saturday 4 September and 6am 5.30am Monday 6 September.
Bus replacements will depart Wellington Station from Platform 9 and cannot carry bicycles. More information about bus replacements is available at www.tranzmetro.co.nz or via Metlink on 0800 801 700.
