I want your readers to know that I personally did not support the decision by council to drill more bores to pump Waikanae river water below ground in the hopes that it will be there when the next drought occurs. The huge cost of pumping water down into the ground and then pumping it up again will add significantly to the rates you pay. I have, for forty years, been a supporter of a small dam above the treatment facility in Waikanae, where 4M cu m. of water could be usefully stored would be a long term emergency supply. The over One Million dollars that has been spent recently on Opus consultants was a complete waste of money and time. If I am re-elected I will be supporting above ground water storage.
