‘Grave concerns’ for missing man

Kāpiti Police are looking for sightings of a vehicle they believe may lead them to Kāpiti man Raymond Piper, missing for nearly a month.

Officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says Police have new information that Raymond or Son as he was known, was seen travelling in a dark green Mazda Marvie, when he went missing from Eatwell Avenue, Paraparaumu Beach, on the morning of Saturday the 15th of May.

“We believe the vehicle has travelled as far as Wanganui and I am urging anyone who may have seen this vehicle over the past month to contact Police.”

“We have tonight released images of a similar vehicle on TV2’s Police 10-7 in the hope that Kāpiti Coast and Wanganui communities may recall seeing this vehicle and phone us.”

In that program, presenter Detective Inspector (ret) Graham Bell, said of the case, “The more I look at this the more I’m convinced it’s a homicide.”

DSS Oxnam is urging the owner of the vehicle to come forward so that he/she can be eliminated from the inquiry.

“Son’s partner and whanau are desperate for information as to Son’s whereabouts and have spent the past month in despair. Police are doing everything we can to find Son however we now have grave concerns for his life.”

Anyone with information is urged to phone Police on 0800 FIND RAY, via email at [email protected] or via text 027 241 1394.
