Queen’s birthday gift to Kāpiti honourees

Former Mayor Alan Milne headed the list of Kāpiti people named on the Queen’s birthday honours list.
Former KCDC Councillor for Ōtaki for 19 years, Barry Mansell received the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM). Mr Mansell is still actively involved in voluntary work including a role with the Ōtaki Friends of the River.
Charlene Williams received her QSM for services to the nursing profession for more than 50 years. Mrs Williams of Waikanae has played a significant role in the development of primary health care.
Paraparaumu voluntary fire chief Wayne Sarjeant was awarded his QSM for service to the New Zealand Fire Service.
Peter Gibson of Paraparaumu has also had extensive involvement with community organisations and has been awarded a QSM.
