Arty August is back at the libraries

Arty August, a celebration of arts and crafts at Kāpiti Coast District Libraries, will be offered again this year at all three facilities Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki.
With the development of a literary festival by the Kāpiti Coast Friends of the Library, the decision was made to interchange these two events, offering them every other year.
Artists and crafts people who would like to display their work, and how they produce it, at the libraries during August should contact the library staff responsible for the art spaces at the three libraries.
Persons to contact are: Angie Salmon, Paraparaumu Library, 296-4889, [email protected]; Amanda Andrews, Waikanae Library, 296-4760, [email protected]; and Kristie Parata, Ōtaki Library, 06-364-9300, [email protected]. Leave your name, contact details and what type of art or craft you wish to demonstrate.
“People gain a great deal from Arty August,” said Leslie Clague, district libraries manager. “They can gain ideas and think about what they might like to create. They can see how works are developed. It really expands art and craft appreciation. And, of course, the libraries have a great number of books on arts and crafts to support people’s burgeoning creativity.”
