Armed Offenders Squad make arrests in the Hutt

The arrests were made this week during search warrants carried out in Naenae and Lower Hutt, with support from the Armed Offenders Squad. The two men, aged 23 and 35, have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Tofts, aged 45, was critically injured at the house in Kakariki Grove and died at the scene.

Detective Inspector Jamie Woods, Field Crime Manager, said further charges are likely as the investigation continues.

“There will be a continued police presence at two addresses today – one in Naenae and one in Lower Hutt – as officers undertake further enquiries,” said Woods.

Residents in the area have been advised that there is no risk to public safety. Police say they will remain at the locations while the scene examinations continue.
