This year’s Reikorangi Country Fair was a big hit despite the threat of wet weather on Sunday.

Hundreds turned up to the refurbished Reikorangi Community Hall and domain for a day of country fun with events like the pet parade, gumboot throwing, and pony rides as popular as ever.

The occasional shower swept through just to keep everyone on their toes and in the dryer spells the tug-of-war was hotly contested and the pony rides were a thrill for the young at heart of all ages.

Inside the hall were more stalls and plenty of hot coffee, tea, and cream scones.

Organiser Julia Palmer says the day was a great success.

“The feedback has been really positive and it was another great fundraiser for the local community. We are really grateful for all of the volunteers who make this happen and to the stall holders.”

Ms Palmer says the Ukulele Orchestra and the Line Dancers added plenty of entertainment and she says the team are already looking forward to next year’s event as the Country Fair is overdue a sunny day.
