Five charged with murder after Kapiti death

Five men have been charged with murder following the death of Michael Tofts at a house in Kakariki Grove, Waikanae

Michael Tofts was killed at a Waikanae address on November 19 and Police have now charged five men with murder.

The five men appeared in the Porirua District Court on Tuesday charged with murdering Mr Tofts, and a sixth person was charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder by attempting to dispose of evidence.

Police said Mr Tofts died at the scene in Kakariki Grove, Waikanae.

Judge Brett Crowley suppressed the names of the murder charge defendants: two Lower Hutt men, aged 35 and 25; a Paraparaumu man, 20; and two men from Petone aged 43 and 23.

They and the sixth man, 26, who also has name suppression, will appear in the High Court on January 23. Each was remanded in custody.
