One person has died following a serious crash Tuesday on Ashhurst Rd near Palmerston North, police have confirmed.
Four other people have injuries ranging from critical to serious and were taken to hospital.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash at 2.15pm in Bunnythorpe, a town near Palmerston North.
On Tuesday, a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said both cars had rolled off the road.
Two fire crews from Palmerston North and one from Ashhurst had worked to remove people from the vehicles.
The serious crash unit examined the scene and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a dark-coloured Ford Ranger and a Toyota Yaris in the Bunnythorpe area from about 2pm.
