Weather warning for Kapiti

WREMO issues weather warning for Kapiti Coast

Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMOnz)

WEATHER WARNINGS: Wellington, Wairarapa and Kāpiti

There are strong wind warnings in place for WELLINGTON and the WAIRARAPA including the TARARUA District from 8pm tonight until 9pm Friday. Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles, so take care on the roads. Heavy SWELLS are forecast along the KAPITI COAST tomorrow afternoon and into the evening tomorrow. Waves combined with strong westerly winds could see swells rise to 4.5 metres on Friday afternoon and evening. This has potential to cause road inundation so please take care along SH1 between PUKERUA BAY and PAEKAKARIKI. Recreational fishers including whitebaiters and residents in low lying or exposed waterfront locations such as Pukerua Bay, Paekākāriki and Raumati to Raumati South, and the Waikanae and Ōtaki River mouths should also take care as localised coastal flooding and surges into river mouths is possible.
