Police have advised State Highway One is closed at Pukerua Bay due to a scrub fire on the hill.
Police are assisting Fire and Emergency NZ and were called to the scene at around 8.06pm tonight.
Traffic is being diverted over the Paekākāariki Hill Road.
The diversion is not suitable for heavy vehicles.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible as delays are expected.
