Young Kāpiti storytellers sought for film challenge

Kāpiti has a strong reputation for producing talented young filmmakers and another opportunity is available.

Entries are now open for the Someday Challenge, the annual call out to young filmmakers. Entrants are invited to submit a sustainability-related film, of any genre, up to five minutes long.
The Someday Challenge is open to all New Zealanders under 25. Filmmakers can choose how they interpret the theme of sustainability, perhaps relating it to their culture, their dreams, their family and whānau, or their environment.
Many submissions have started small and gone on to big success with winners as young as 12 taking out awards at international film festivals. Any camera can be used, even one on a phone.
A panel of judges from media, education, government and business will select 20 winning films, all of which will be entered into at least one international film festival. Other prizes include camera equipment, vouchers, and a trip to Weta Digital in Wellington.

Entries are open now until September 14, 2018, and winners will be invited to the Someday Awards ceremony in Auckland on December 6.
