Kāpiti Mayor says Airport Open Day ‘Brilliant’

Kāpiti Mayor K.Gurunathan says today’s Kāpiti Airport open day drew a large crowd and was a great opportunity to showcase what is a huge strategic asset, not only for Kāpiti but also for the region.
Mayor Gurunathan was joined by fellow mayors Mike Tana of Porirua and Horowhenua mayor Michael Feyen.
Mr Gurunathan says people were blown away by the size of the crowd.
“It was a brilliant day, a great crowd and perfect Kāpiti weather. It was very good to have our neighbouring mayors here as well.”
Mr Gurunathan says the Kāpiti Airport links in as part of the regional transport network which includes the Kāpiti Expressway which is carrying on into Horowhenua and the southern link of Transmission Gully which makes Porirua an even closer neighbour.
“Mayor Mike Tana said it only took him 24 minutes from Porirua today and when Transmission Gully is completed that time will be about 15 minutes which makes our airport an important strategic asset for neighbouring councils as well.”
