Ōtaki electorate congratulates PM on Baby Announcement

Labour’s former Ōtaki electorate candidate Rob McCann has offered his congratulations to the PM Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford after the PM announced today she is pregnant.

Mr McCann says he enjoyed the PMs statement that she will be Prime Minister and a mum, and Clarke will be ‘first man of fishing’ and stay at home dad.
Mr McCann says he and the whole Ōtaki electorate team were very grateful for the huge effort Jacinda put in during the election and they are all thrilled at this news for her and Clarke.
Ms Ardern says she has met with Deputy Prime Minister, Winston Peters, to share the news and to ask him to take on the role of Acting Prime Minister for a period of 6 weeks after the baby is born.
The PM says while 2018 will be the year I become a mum, it will also be a year that the Government finishes our 100 day plan, and starts pursuing all of the priorities that will build a better New Zealand.
