One person has been confirmed dead following a crash near Sanson at 4.45pm this afternoon.
Police say the crash involved two cars and a logging truck.
“The deceased person was the sole occupant of one of the cars.
The truck driver has been transported to hospital with serious injuries.”
The occupants of the second car are uninjured.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time while the Serious Crash Unit examine the scene.
Diversions remain in place at the intersections of State Highway 1 / Taikorea Road and State Highway 1 / Milner Road.
