The road was closed and diversions put in place.

This is the second serious accident on Paekākāariki Hill Road in as many weeks. Last week a person received critical injuries and a helicopter responding after a crash on the hill road.
The man was also flown to hospital with critical injuries after a crash on Paekākāariki Hill Rd in Pauatahanui.

A police spokesperson said the crash happened on the Paekākāariki side of the hill, and the motorcyclist was pinned under the car “for a time”.
He was flown to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.
