Firefighters hike through Kāpiti for MND

On the hero scale firefighters are off the charts, risking life and limb to save lives. and this weekend an intrepid team is walking from Palmerston North to Wellington to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease.
The team of firefighters and support crew form the Extreme Walk 2 D’Feet MND team trekking 170km in full firefighting gear.
Firefighter Chris Kennedy says the walk has been hard work on the feet but they are heartened by the great level of public support.
He says they will finish their walk in Wellington on Sunday by joining up with the local Wellington Walk 2 D’Feet MND.
Chris says for the team it is three days of pain but says that is a small sacrifice to help those who suffer for years with Motor Neurone Disease.
The walkers are Chris Kennedy, Dan Nesbit, Jeremy Dodge, Justin Storey and Doyle Stanners backed up by support crew Angela Pomana, Belinda Cadzow, Tiger McCleary and Lynette Hodges.
