Kāpiti’s Mike Olsen awarded Life Member of Club Vista

At the recent AGM of Club Vista at Paraparaumu Beach Mike Olsen was awarded the first Life Membership of the club in recognition of his extraordinary service and commitment over more than two years to the creation of Club Vista.

Former RSA president Chris Turver read the motion which was passed unanimously.
“Club Vista emerged out of an amalgamation between the Kāpiti Club and Paraparaumu RSA which was finalised through Memorandum of Understanding and then a Deed of Trust in 2015.
As a prominent local businessman and a longtime member of the Kāpiti Club Mike was voted to chair ihe original Working Together Committee in late 2014 by the Kāpiti Club and RSA members of that Committee.
As president of Paraparaumu RSA I worked closely with Mike right from the start and he led by example and determination.
Most of all he was far sighted in his vision for the new club and fair-minded in his dealings with those who had to make it work.
On 5 September 2015, Club Vista was formally opened by the Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae who has now become our Patron.
Club Vista has since been governed by an appointed Board which included Mike as chairman, two members each from the former Kāpiti Club and from the RSA, with provision for additional members with required skills.
Thanks to Mike’s leadership we have a hugely successful club in a stunning environment and membership has grown from an initial combined total of 1,800 to around 2,500. With the land and buildings available to us for future development, Club Vista faces an even more exciting future.
I move that Mike Olsen, chairman of the Board of Club Vista, is made a Life Member in recognition of his outstanding service.”
