Kāpiti Councillor arrested on Indecent Assault charge

Kāpiti Councillor David Scott has been arrested for indecent assault on a Kāpiti Coast District Council staff member, a charge he denies.
Cr Scott has been charged pursuant to section 135 of the crimes act 1961 and will make a first appearance at the Porirua District Court on Friday.
The Police are only able to give limited information at this stage. A Police spokesperson told KCNews, “A 70-year-old man has been charged with indecent assault and is set to appear in the Porirua District Court on Friday 19 May 2017. As the matter is before the courts Police are not in a position to comment further.”
Cr Scott told KCNews he would defend the charge which he said “is ludicrous and the accusation is untrue.”
Kāpiti Council says Chief Executive Pat Dougherty has no comment to make as the matter is now with the police and will be before the court.
