Wednesday 3 May we have USA Coach Rewi Thompson coming out to Kāpiti to run a Basketball Coaching Clinic for Coaches.

Coach Rewi will be focusing on the HOW to coach. HOW to organise and utilise the time you have on court with your players. HOW to maximise purpose within your coaching so that drills and skill work transfer to playing effective TEAM basketball.

Rewi has been coaching high school basketball in the USA for over 20 years and will be delivering clinics across the Capital Region during April and May. His message is around ‘HOW’ to coach the game focusing on PURPOSE and ORGANISATION within your sessions to maximise the time with your players.

Rewi Thompson was raised in Wellington and played college, club, representative, National league and Tall Blacks basketball.
For the past 30 years (since 1984) he has been coaching at Middle Township High School in New Jersey. He has attended and led the clinics of and with some of the top development coaches in USA. Middle Township High School is one of 440 New Jersey high schools that compete for a State Championship in one of six different groups according to size. Its 1100 students is considered small by New Jersey standards (the largest school in the State has 5000 students).
Middle has won 6 State Championships in its Group and has won 80% of its games since 1984 making it one of the most successful public school basketball programmes in the state. New Jersey is consistently rated in the Top 10 states in America for High School basketball.
