WREDA all about it at Business Breakfast

With Wellington struggling for attention from central government as a result of Auckland being a ‘super city’, will a new economic development agency really help.

For the answer to this and a bunch of other interesting questions come and hear Peter Biggs NZCM at the Electra Business Breakfast 13th MAY 2015.

In 2014, the decision was made to create a new economic development agency for the Wellington region that brings together Greater Wellington Regional Council’s Grow Wellington agency with the Wellington City Council-run Positively Wellington Tourism, Positively Wellington Venues, and its major events activities. At the time, a number of local leaders said that fragmentation was not serving us well and by combining business and economic development with tourism promotion, events and venues, the new Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency (WREDA) would have the muscle we need to get results for the regional economy.

What will this new regional tourism and economic development agency mean for the Kāpiti Coast? Join us to hear from the former Wellingtonian of the year Peter Biggs, the inaugural Chairman of Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency.

Peter Biggs is the recently retired Chief Executive of Clemenger BBDO/Melbourne. During his eight years leading the agency, Clemenger BBDO/Melbourne was Campaign Brief Australian Agency of the Year for a record five years in a row and named Asia-Pacific’s Most Effective Agency for three years in a row. Clemenger BBDO/Melbourne was also ranked number five agency in the world for creativity and effectiveness in the 2013 Gunn Report.

Before taking up his appointment in Melbourne in March 2006, Peter was Managing Director of Clemenger BBDO in Wellington, New Zealand.

During his time at Clemenger BBDO/Wellington, the agency was New Zealand Agency of the Year in 2002 and 2004, and he was chosen as Agency Chief Executive of the Year in 2003.
