Paraparaumu College wins thriller

The Paraparaumu College senior boys basketball team maintained its unbeaten run against Kāpiti College in the annual Angelo Robinson Cup match on Friday night.
Hosted by Kāpiti College, not a spare seat was available as supporters from both sides filled the gym. Kāpiti got off to a great start but was pegged back by Paraparaumu who led at the end of the first quarter by 4 points. In the second quarter the teams traded buckets and Paraparaumu led by 5 points at half time. PC had a strong third quarter and had kicked out to a 10 point lead. But Kāpiti showed great fighting spirit, pegging back the lead, however PC ran out winners by 5 points in an extremely exciting and high quality game. This is the 5th year the teams have played for the cup and the rivalry is as strong as any other between the two colleges.

At the presentation of the cup, Angelo Robinson applauded the huge array of talent on display in both teams and encouraged all the players to continue with their basketball careers, before presenting the cup to the Paraparaumu College captain Kristian McLeod.
