I have been a member of the Paekākāariki Community Board for five years and I am keen to continue to work for and represent our community. I am pleased to have helped facilitate a number of local projects, particularly the upcoming Waiting Room at the Station, and junior sports fields and playground in Tilley Rd. We have also made submissions on your behalf to both the District Plan and the Long Term Plan.
The Board has always encouraged people to openly state their views, and we have seen vigorous debate in the village on matters such as water metering and coastal erosion. We enjoy frank, open public meetings where everyone can express their views and debate them with the decision makers and experts. Proposed Local Government changes will mean much of this local democracy will be lost forever. I will continue to fight for that right.
