Mike Cardiff – Profile

A Kāpiti coast resident and ratepayer since 1975 and the manager of Council’s Parks and Recreation Department for 30 years until 2009, has provided experience and institutional knowledge. This has enabled me to fairly represent the wider community view during the last 3 years as a first term Councillor.
If re- elected I will continue to listen and support democratic process. I will continue to challenge unreasonable decisions. I will be committed to reducing expenditure through positive change and affordable progress.
The projected Long Term Plan rate increase, averaging 4.9% over the next 20 years is unacceptable and needs to be significantly reduced.
During the last election campaign I was the only candidate who openly supported the expressway. Council must now focus on the economic benefits associated with this by providing leadership that will promote new development and a sustainable future for our community.
