The New Zealand School of Business and Government (SBG), which operates from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch has appointed Amelia Longuet of Ōtaki, the new chief executive and head of school.
Mike Fermanis will continue in his role as head of operations and marketing.
The changes follow the retirement of SBG’s founder and chief executive Grant Hodgson and academic director Christine Roberts.
Mrs Longuet said the shareholding changes and new investment in SBG would enable the College to expand from 300 to 500 international students and from 100 to 300 domestic students.
“Over the next three months we will review SBG operations, reset management and governance roles and look at improving the SBG’s education offering to expand from Level 6 courses to Level 7 courses,” Mrs Longuet said.
SBG also plans to increase its international profile with new students targeted from Sri Lanka, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and China for 2013
“Our NZ programmes are important and the SBG’s existing Public Sector Workshop Programmes will be refocused, alongside new courses being developed for the corporate sector,” she said.

Amelia Longuet and her husband Russell divide their time between working in Wellington and outdoor lifestyle activities on their rural property at Ōtaki. Amelia is a lawyer, who joined SBG as Campus Director last October. She is also the company principal of Forinvest Limited, which specialises in advice to overseas investors and assists in facilitating foreign investments into New Zealand. She established this business in March, 2011. Amelia is an experienced university and polytech lecturer in business courses, corporate and commercial law papers and has also worked for a number of years in the public sector as a regulator. She is also a national trustee for Te Araroa Trust, responsible for developing New Zealand walkways from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
