I for one, and I’m not alone, can’t wait to see this expressway built. At long last traffic that is working its way north can do so and the Coast truly then becomes a destination point. People will want to enjoy the surrounds rather than fight their way to the region in slow moving traffic. To say that the expressway is a noisy behemoth is nonsense. There are already people from Pukerua Bay to Te Horo that live beside the current SH1 and it’s just a fact of life but a truly painful one at that. The new access sites are fine if you want to get on to the new expressway. You would be entering them for a purpose otherwise you use the local roads. I’ve been patient for 35 years while locally we’ve dithered. Not anymore just get on with it I say.
