Internationally respected Dr Joseph Mercola has made ending fluoridation one of his priorities, adding his voice to the rising public opposition to fluoridation. Dr Mercola (MD) runs the most visited natural health website in the world. On the 29th April 2009 his article on the Swine flu was the 10th most read page on the entire internet.
This announcement, made on 3 July, comes as the NZ Ministry of Health uses public money to set up a task force to push for more fluoridation. The Ministry cites losing recent referenda on fluoridation, and failing to win a Kāpiti Council vote, as grounds for its move.
Dr Mercola has teamed up with Fluoride Action Network (USA), the leading organisation in the move to end fluoridation. An interview with FAN leader Dr Paul Connett on YouTube has received thousands of views per hour since it was publicized.
“Health conscious people already turn to Dr Mercola for reliable information. On the other hand, the Ministry’s task force contract requires spin-doctoring to promote its scientifically discredited fluoridation agenda. The Ministry will have to accept the fact that people are finding out about fluoridation and the Ministry is showing itself to be much more interested in saving face than protecting and promoting peoples’ health” says Mary Byrne spokesperson for Fluoride Action Network New Zealand.
